A good spot for beef at Starfield Suwon.
We came to browse Starfield and found this restaurant while looking for the best Korean food in the mall. Most reviews praised the eoboktang, but my girlfriend thought the bulgogi looked too appetizing to pass up, so that is what we ordered. The bulgogi deserves a recommendation of its own, beyond the fame of the soup. I had also hoped to try the cherry blossom galbi seen on YouTube, but after asking, I learned that the Starfield branch does not serve it. Keep that in mind when planning a visit.
Seongsan Myeongga at Starfield Suwon
Seongsan Myeongga, an established galbi restaurant from Changwon, has opened in Eatopia on the seventh floor of Starfield Suwon, adapting to the shopping mall setting and a more casual way of dining. Unlike the formal barbecue experience at its large garden-style main restaurant, this branch takes a pared-back approach suited to its space.
Bulgogi and individual Korean set meals
The biggest change is the neatly arranged individual set meal in place of grilling meat at the table. This format works well for solo diners and those who prefer their own separate meal. A tray of meat, rice, soup and side dishes provides the reassuring feeling of a complete meal even amid the bustle of the food court.
The flavor rests on the original restaurant’s time-tested marinades. The wire-grilled bulgogi carries a touch of open-flame cooking, with gentle savoriness and pleasant sweetness permeating the meat without becoming overpowering. It is an approachable style that can appeal across generations, from families shopping with children to older diners.
For anyone who wants more than a quick bite during a busy shopping trip, this familiar yet refined meat set is a thoughtful, neatly presented way to refuel.
Price impression: Moderate.
