Excellent galbi in Misa, just outside Seoul.
We were struggling to find a suitable restaurant on the way to our destination, but Naver led us to this well-rated place. I had never heard of it and was still getting to know her tastes, so I was nervous about whether she would like it. Fortunately, she was delighted and even sent me photos herself, insisting that I post about it. Later, a friend who lives nearby told me that his father-in-law trusts the food and service enough to bring guests here. It turned out to be a famous restaurant that everyone seemed to know except me.

Along a broad road in Misa, Hanam, Galbidorak’s Misa main branch has an imposing exterior and generous parking. Under the guidance of a Korean master chef, it has become a dependable destination for large family meals. High-quality meat and carefully arranged side dishes worthy of a Korean set meal give this charcoal barbecue restaurant a strong foundation.

Its greatest strength is the balance of its subtle, restrained marinades. The large marinated beef ribs and Korean pork barbecue absorb the natural-ingredient seasoning deep into the meat, offering flavors that appeal across ages. Skilled staff grill over hardwood charcoal, allowing you to enjoy juicy meat at the right moment without worrying about burning it.
The Korean set-meal-style side dishes deserve as much attention as the barbecue. A crisp signature tomato salad, seasoned skate, japchae and house-made mustard-leaf and young-radish kimchi whet the appetite. Traditional Hamheung cold noodles, made in-house with fine, springy strands, provide an excellent finish, as does the earthy doenjang stew with generous ingredients.
With reasonably priced weekday specials, spacious private rooms and attentive service, this is a reliable choice when the whole family wants a relaxed, consistently satisfying meal out.
